From the courageous dawn of aviation to the inception of commercial air travel, Breitling's narrative is intricately interwoven with the history of flight. In the 1930s, the Huit Aviation department gained renown for inventing precision cockpit clocks. Two decades later, the Ref. 765 AVI emerged as a groundbreaking wearable flight instrument, laying the groundwork for the contemporary Super AVI collection, inspired by the robust spirit of early aircraft.

The Super AVI P-51 Mustang pays homage to the legendary aircraft that defied expectations with its rapid construction and exceptional performance. Built in just 120 days, the P-51's experimental features, including low-drag wings and an advanced engine-cooling system, propelled it to unparalleled speed and range. The addition of a Merlin engine further elevated its capabilities, establishing it as the premier all-purpose fighter of its era.

Crafted as a genuine pilot's watch, the Super AVI P-51 Mustang boasts large, highly legible Arabic numerals on both the dial and bezel. The oversized crown and knurled bezel on the robust 46mm case ensure optimal grip, even in a pilot's gloved hands. The top-stitched calfskin straps pay homage to classic flight gear, while an optional stainless-steel bracelet offers an elegant alternative. Pilots and globetrotters will appreciate the 24-hour markings on the inner bezel and the red-tipped GMT hand for tracking a second time zone. Powering the Super AVI is the COSC-certified Breitling Manufacture Caliber B04, delivering approximately 70 hours of power reserve. Embark on a journey through time with this authentic tribute to aviation history.

Technical information about this watch

Breitling Super AVI B04 Chronograph GMT 46 P-51 Mustang

A water resistance icon in the shape of a shield. On the shield is a drop of water and beside the water are two lines that looks like waves.

100M / 10 ATM water resistance

Water resistance indicates a watch's ability to withstand moisture and water. Ratings are measured in metres (M) or atmospheres (ATM). For instance, 30M (3 ATM) is suitable for light splashes, while 100M (10 ATM) and above are ideal for swimming and diving. Regular maintenance helps retain water resistance over time.

Breitling Calibre B04 Automatic winding

Watch movements are the mechanisms that power timekeeping, coming in automatic, manual, and quartz types. Automatic movements self-wind using wrist motion, manual movements require hand-winding, and quartz movements are battery-powered for precise timekeeping. Each type offers unique benefits, catering to different preferences and lifestyles.

A watch case size icon that shows the head of the watch with an arrow on the dial giving an indication as to the diameter of the dial.

46mm case size

Case size, measured in millimetres (mm), impacts the watch's look and fit. Men's watches typically range from 38mm to 46mm, and women's from 26mm to 36mm. Larger cases make a bold statement, while smaller cases offer a classic look. Choosing the right size ensures comfort and style.

A power reserve icon that looks like a gauge that indicates how much power is left.

70 hours power reserve

Power reserve is the duration a watch runs on a full wind or charge. Mechanical watches usually offer 40 to 80 hours, with some extending to several days. Quartz watches, powered by batteries, last several years. Knowing the power reserve helps maintain accurate timekeeping.
