Breitling Chronomat
In the early 1980s, Breitling discovered that the Italian Frecce Tricolori Jet team needed a new chronograph—sleek enough for off-duty wear, rugged enough for cockpits, and fully mechanical due to the lack of a suitable quartz movement. To prevent crystal damage when pilots entered their aircraft, Breitling innovated by recessing the crystal within the bezel and protecting it with four “rider tabs.” These tabs became the hallmark of the Chronomat. Redesigned in 2020 with its distinctive “Rouleaux” bracelet, the Chronomat remains a versatile timepiece for any pursuit.
