Breitling's ultimate pilot's chronograph - designed for the journey. In 1952, Willy Breitling created a wrist-worn chronograph with a circular slide rule, providing pilots with all necessary flight calculations. Two years later, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) chose it as their official timepiece. The "navigation timer" - or Navitimer - was officially born. The AOPA, the world's largest pilots club at the time, counted nearly every American aviator as a member. As the go-to choice for pilots during the golden age of civil aviation, the Navitimer was also popular among airline captains and aircraft enthusiasts alike. It even traveled to space with astronaut Scott Carpenter in 1962. Not only pilots were drawn to the watch's timeless design - celebrities like Miles Davis and Serge Gainsbourg were also fans, proving the Navitimer's style and function. Technical information about this watch
Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43
30M / 3 ATM water resistance
Water resistance indicates a watch's ability to withstand moisture and water. Ratings are measured in metres (M) or atmospheres (ATM). For instance, 30M (3 ATM) is suitable for light splashes, while 100M (10 ATM) and above are ideal for swimming and diving. Regular maintenance helps retain water resistance over time.
Breitling Calibre B01 Automatic movement
Watch movements are the mechanisms that power timekeeping, coming in automatic, manual, and quartz types. Automatic movements self-wind using wrist motion, manual movements require hand-winding, and quartz movements are battery-powered for precise timekeeping. Each type offers unique benefits, catering to different preferences and lifestyles.
43mm case size
Case size, measured in millimetres (mm), impacts the watch's look and fit. Men's watches typically range from 38mm to 46mm, and women's from 26mm to 36mm. Larger cases make a bold statement, while smaller cases offer a classic look. Choosing the right size ensures comfort and style.
70 hours power reserve
Power reserve is the duration a watch runs on a full wind or charge. Mechanical watches usually offer 40 to 80 hours, with some extending to several days. Quartz watches, powered by batteries, last several years. Knowing the power reserve helps maintain accurate timekeeping.
