On October 3, 1962, astronaut Walter Schirra wore the OMEGA Speedmaster CK 2998 during the Sigma 7 mission, making it the first OMEGA in space. This modern tribute captures the spirit of that historic model with a 39.70 mm polished and brushed stainless steel case, paired with a brown leather strap. The black aluminium bezel features the iconic tachymeter scale with the “Dot Over Ninety,” while the sapphire crystal, reminiscent of hesalite, reveals a CVD-coated grey-blue dial inspired by 1960s originals. The vintage Super-LumiNova-filled “Alpha” hands and white “Baton” central seconds hand complete the classic look, along with subdials for 30-minute, 12-hour, and small-seconds displays.

The watch is powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, a modern evolution of the legendary Calibre 321. Vintage OMEGA logos adorn the dial and crown, while the caseback features the Seahorse medallion and inscriptions commemorating its space heritage. Each timepiece comes in a special presentation box with a “LEGENDARY MOONWATCH” leaflet, celebrating OMEGA’s enduring legacy of space exploration.

About OMEGA

Founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, OMEGA has evolved from a modest workshop into a global symbol of precision and pioneering spirit. The brand earned its name from the revolutionary 19-ligne "OMEGA" caliber introduced in 1894, a movement so advanced its parts were globally interchangeable. This commitment to technical excellence propelled OMEGA to the world stage, leading to its appointment as the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games in 1932—a role it has held for nearly a century. OMEGA’s legacy is defined by extraordinary milestones: the Speedmaster became the first watch worn on the moon during the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, while the Seamaster has served as the trusted timepiece of James Bond since 1995. Beyond its cultural fame, the brand remains at the forefront of horological innovation, introducing the friction-reducing Co-Axial escapement and the rigorous Master Chronometer certification. Today, whether through the elegant Constellation or the refined De Ville, OMEGA continues to blend its rich heritage with cutting-edge materials and anti-magnetic technology, offering timepieces that are as much a tool for explorers as they are a hallmark of luxury.
